 Metro Manila Tourism Forum 2018 Happening End of August


The International School of Sustainable Tourism (ISST), with the support of the Department of Tourism (DOT), is holding the Metro Manila Tourism Forum (MMTF) 2018 on August 30 and 31 at the Blue Leaf Filipinas in Paranaque City.

The ISST is headed by former Tourism Secretary Mina T. Gabor, who is now a board member of the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and chairs the AAP Tourism Committee.

This year’s forum promises to be another insightful and engaging experience for participants as it explores the theme “City Tourism: Rebuilding a Local Destination to a Global Brand.”

Local government officials, tourism stakeholders, travel agents, hotel and restaurant industry representatives and anyone who wants to learn from tourism experts will be welcomed to the two-day conference hosted by the City of Paranaque.

The MMTF 2018 has lined up notable industry experts to share their valuable inputs in developing city tourism starting with the guest of honor, DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, who will deliver the opening remarks.

“Empower the Leaders” is the first plenary session topic with Maria Young-Sin Lim from Imagine Peace (Korea) as the keynote speaker. She will be joined by the Department of the Interior Local Government Undersecretary Austere Panadero, Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission Executive Director Jose Antonio Goitia and NLEX Corporation President Rodrigo Franco. This session will explore topics on local government, environment management and infrastructure makeover.

The following plenary session with keynote speaker Clickable Vietnam CEO Jason Lusk will focus on “Engage the Culture and Community.” Joining Lusk are Platinum Fireworks President Joel Sta. Ana, Intramuros Administrator Guillermo Asido and DOT Tourism Development Planning Chief Warner Andrada. Unity in community, culture, heritage, arts, craftsmanship and entertainment and tourism as everybody’s business will be highlighted in this session.
The final session will look at city branding campaign, social media ambassadors and thinking global towards “Evolve! Becoming a Global Brand.” Tourism Malaysia Director Zaidi Bin Kassim will close the discussions with EON Chair and CEO Junie Del Mundo, Our Awesome Planet author Anton Diaz and FusionBrand (Malaysia) CEO Marcus Osborne.
The Metro Manila Travel Mart 2018 will be held simultaneously with the MMTF. The travel and trade exhibit will showcase diverse products from the different regions in the country including food and delicacies, travel and accommodation, garments, fashion accessories and more.
The MMTF is supported by the Metro Pacific Tollways and Digital Out-of-Home with Globe Telecoms, United Neon Advertising Inc., Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Resorts World Manila, Enchanted Kingdom and CNN Philippines as media partner.
